OUR VETERINARIANS

Sean Carder, DVM

Dr. Sean Carder was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1971 and moved to Marietta, GA in 1982. He graduated from Lassiter High School in 1989 and attended Auburn University. Sean received his undergraduate degree in zoology in 1993 and started Veterinary school that year as well. He also played football at Auburn as a wide receiver and was

a part of the undefeated team in 1993 as a senior while attending his first year in veterinary school. Dr. Carder joined The Veterinary Clinic in June 1997. He's a member of a variety of Veterinary Boards. Dr. Carder has a strong passion for orthopedics and critical care cases. He's a very loving and easy going doctor and cares for his patients as if they were his own pets.    

Ashley Mazza, DVM

Dr. Mazza is originally a native of Augusta, Georgia.​​​

She received her Associate of Animal Health in 1981 from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Her first position in the small animal world began at the Dahlonega Veterinary Hospital in Dahlonega, GA as a Registered Veterinary Technician. Ashley worked at this hospital for 10 years while also attending North Georgia College in undergraduate studies. 

​She was accepted to UGA School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. While attending Veterinary School she worked in the teaching hospital as a registered veterinary technician. Ashley did her externship at Greater Atlanta Veterinary Surgical Referral Practice. She graduated from the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine, Cum Laude in 1995. 

Upon completion of veterinary school, she returned to her loved North Georgia Mountains and worked for a brief time at Animal Medical Center in Jasper Georgia before moving to Marietta. 

Dr. Mazza came to The Veterinary Clinic in October 1995. She brought with her many years of experience as a veterinary technician and was instrumental in setting up the program to teach and leverage co-workers. In January 2001, she partnered with Dr. Carder, Dr. Wilson, and Jayne Hawkins to buy The Veterinary Clinic and The Veterinary Clinic – West.

Her interests are varied between dogs, cats, and pocket pets. She loves surgery and diagnosing difficult cases. Her teaching demeanor has been beneficial to so many up and coming veterinarians, technicians, and co-workers. Her philosophy has always been, see one, do one, teach one. This philosophy makes her an awesome team member and mentor.

 

Brad Wilson, DVM

Dr. Brad Wilson was born in GA and has lived in Rome, Ga., New Jersey, and North Carolina before moving to Marietta in 1971. Brad graduated from Sprayberry High School in 1984 and attended The University of Georgia. He received a bachelor’s degree in zoology in 1988. Dr. Wilson graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. Upon graduation, he worked at Veterinary Medical Center in Alpharetta, Ga., from June 1994 until April 1998.

 

Dr. Wilson joined The Veterinary Clinic in April 1998 where he became the primary Doctor at The Veterinary Clinic-West. Dr. Wilson specializes in reptile and amphibian medicine and surgery in addition to his work with other small and exotic animals.

Outside the hospital Dr. Wilson enjoys a myriad of activities such as professional level photography, rescuing endangered plants, working with the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and working on habitats for endangered frogs in Central America. Recently, Dr. Wilson has worked with several amphibian conservation projects in Panama and Costa Rica. 

Justin Oguni, DVM

Dr. Justin Oguni has been part of the Veterinary Clinic team since November 2013. He was born in California and moved to Marietta in 1994. Frequent visits to the Los Angeles Zoo while growing up in California sparked his passion for animals and it has only grown since then. He started observing veterinary procedures at a local veterinary hospital in 8th grade where his passion for veterinary medicine began and grew. He continued to work/volunteer at different veterinary hospitals throughout high school and college in order to build on a variety of veterinary experiences before pursuing veterinary school. 

Dr. Oguni graduated from Walton High School in Marietta, GA in 2001, received a bachelor’s degree in biology from The University of Georgia in 2005 and graduated from the University of Georgia, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Dr. Oguni spent time working with The Veterinary Clinic during and after veterinary school and became a full-time associate veterinarian in November 2013.

 

Dr. Oguni loves practicing dog and cat medicine, but also has a passion for exotic animal medicine. He strives to provide the best care for his patients and their families and always tries to find ways to help them have the best quality of life possible. 

Lisa Harvey, DVM

Dr. Lisa Harvey graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.  She lives in Atlanta with her partner, Mike where they share their home with 2 dogs, Desmond & Tater, and a very dog-like cat named Hank.

Ali Daniel, DVM

Dr. Ali T. Daniel is a Georgia Bulldog and a West Cobb native. Dr. Daniel's interest in veterinary medicine started at a young age. In fact, she began working as an animal care assistant here at The Veterinary Clinic when she was only 12. Dr. Daniel continued to work at different veterinary hospitals, seeing both large and small animals, in preparation for a career as a veterinarian. 

Dr. Daniel earned both her undergraduate and veterinary

degrees from the University of Georgia.  After 8 years of training at UGA, she is excited to return home to The Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Daniel has a passion for client communication and building lifelong relationships with families and their beloved pets. Her interest areas include dermatology, dentistry, oncology, surgery, and caring for our aging patients. With a bright personality and caring hands, she strives to be a "great veterinarian." 

Quinn Milby, DVM

Dr. Quinn Milby is a native of Marietta, Georgia. She began shadowing at The Veterinary Clinic at a young age and continued to work as a Veterinary Assistant during her free time through College and Veterinary School. She received her bachelor’s degree in Pre-Vet at Berry College in 2013 and graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2017. She loves all aspects of veterinary medicine but her main interests include surgery, animal rehabilitation, and building relationships with clients and their pets. 

PRACTICE MANAGER

Jayne Hawkins, VPM

Jayne's focus in education was animal science. She obtained an associate of science from Vincennes University and attended one year at Purdue University all the while working for a large animal veterinarian in her home town, Indiana. In 1988, She moved to Georgia and began working with small animals. After spending several years in Marietta, she returned to Purdue to focus on a degree in Veterinary Management. She also obtained a Veterinary

Practice Management Certificate through AAHA and Purdue University.  

​She began her career at The Veterinary Clinic in January 1991 with Dr. Thad Riddle. He opened The Veterinary Clinic West in 1998 and she managed both practices. In January 2001, Dr. Mazza, Dr. Carder, Dr. Wilson, and Jayne Hawkins officially signed ownership of the two hospitals.  

"We have come from a staff of 10-15 mostly part-time people to a staff of 26 highly leveraged co-workers." 

The Veterinary Clinic has a long history of students, career-minded people, and volunteers to round out our group and support our goals.
